Bangkok - About 15,000 Burmese troops captured the last big stronghold of one of the world's longest-running insurgencies yesterday in a significant blow to opposition to the ruling junta.
The Karen National Union, the political organisation of the Karen ethnic insurgency, said Burmese troops drove out the last 1,000 defenders from the group's headquarters at Manerplaw.
