A clash between Khmer Rouge and government forces late on Monday left 11 dead in north-west Cambodia, AFP reports from Siem Reap. General Long Sopheap, commander of the fourth military region, said the attack took place 23 miles south-east of Siem Reap, near the Angkor Wat temples.
Three government soldiers and eight Khmer Rouge were killed, one Khmer Rouge was taken prisoner and weapons were seized, the general said during a visit by the French Defence Minister, Francois Leotard.
