Italian prosecutors sought a trial for Jose Carreras, the Spanish tenor, and 22 others following an investigation into alleged overspending at Rome's loss-making Opera, Reuter reports from Rome. State television said that Pier Filippo Laviani, a Roman prosecutor, wanted Carreras to be tried on allegations he overcharged for performances at the Rome Opera in 1992.
