Chinese police arrested Wei Jingsheng, the country's most famous dissident, and took him away for interrogation yesterday in a move certain to inflame the debate over human rights practices, Reuter reports from Peking. Seven police cars stopped Mr Wei as he was driving from the port city of Tianjin back to Peking, a friend said.
