President Bill Clinton has delayed naming a new Supreme Court judge after a problem with the frontrunner's taxes, AFP reports from Washington.

The White House has confirmed a television report the Boston Appeals Court chief judge, Stephen Breyer, failed to pay social security taxes for a retired woman who worked for him as a cleaner for 13 years. Similar disclosures sank the nominations of two Clinton choices, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, for Attorney General earlier this year.
