A retired admiral, William Crowe, and the former Mississippi governor, Ray Mabus, two key political supporters of President Bill Clinton, are in line for plum ambassadorships in Britain and Saudi Arabia, a senior administration official said, AP reports from Washington. Admiral Crowe, who helped President Clinton weather the controversy over his Vietnam war draft record, is the likely choice for the London post. An announcement is due this week.
