Lisbon - Prehistoric engravings received government backing as Prime Minister Antonio Guterres of Portugal announced a decision to put on hold the dam project threatening to submerge the carvings. The open-air rock drawings may date back as far as 20,000 years, but Mr Guterres said his government needs time to investigate their importance and value before deciding the future of the Foz Coa dam.
