PRAGUE (AP, AFP) - Czechoslovak authorities started diverting the Danube river for a huge dam project yesterday. Quoting Julius Binder, construction manager on the project, the CSTK news agency said work on blocking the Danube had started on the Slovak side. The Hungarian government has asked the UN to 'help find means for a peaceful settlement of the debate' between Czechoslovakia and Hungary on the proposed diversion.
