An Egyptian military court condemned six Muslim militants to death yesterday for four bomb attacks on tourist targets and police, and for trying to assassinate the Information Minister, Safwat Sherif, Reuter reports from Cairo.
Chaos broke out in the military court after the judge read the verdicts on the 14 accused: six condemned to death; including a man believed to be in hiding in Afghanistan; two sentenced to hard labour for life; and one to hard labour for 10 years. Two men were acquitted and charges against three were dropped.
