Russia and Ukraine reached a preliminary agreement on compensation for Kiev to dismantle its nuclear weapons, AFP reports from Kiev.

The compensation question formed part of a package of agreements on application of last month's Moscow accord between Russia, Ukraine and the United States on the total denuclearisation of Ukraine.
