WASHINGTON (AFP) - Senator Edward Kennedy has married a Washington lawyer, Victoria Reggie, his office has confirmed.

It was the second marriage for the 60-year-old Democrat from Massachusetts. He and Ms Reggie, 38, were married in a private ceremony on Friday at the senator's home in McLean, Virginia, according to a statement from by his Capitol Hill office.

Senator Kennedy divorced his first wife, Joan, in 1982. He has three children from that marriage. He announced his engagement to Ms Reggie, who is also divorced, in March.
