Six people were still in hospital in the southern tourist centre of Aswan a day after they were injured when suspected Islamic extremists threw a bomb at a police patrol car, AP reports from Cairo.

It was the second attack blamed on militants over the weekend, in which a police officer was killed and eight wounded when a bomb exploded at a civil-defence office in central Cairo.
