A group of 100 asylum-seekers were caught inside the French Eurotunnel compound last night, trying to reach Britain through the Channel Tunnel.

Last Wednesday, a group of 44 Afghans were found inside the tunnel trying to walk through to England.

The latest news will further increase political pressure on the French authorities to move the Red Cross refugee camp from Sangatte, which is close to the French Eurotunnel compound at Coquelle, north of Calais.

While last night's group were rounded up, passenger services had to be delayed for several hours and freight services were suspended.
