Alleged ‘Pink Panther’ arrested in the South of France
An alleged member of the so-called Pink Panthers jewel gang has been arrested by police in the South of France.
The unnamed man is said to be in his forties and of Montenegrin origin. He was arrested at his home in Montpellier, France.
It is believed that the man is one of five people who escaped from Bois-Mermet prison in Switzerland in May. At least two of them are said to be members of the Pink Panthers, who are believed to have stolen £215m of precious stones over 10 years.
