Spanish farmers led thousands of sheep and cattle through the streets of Madrid yesterday in defence of the ancient droving routes of migration – moving flocks between winter and summer pastures – dating back some 800 years. The annual livestock migration festival has taken place in the Spanish capital since 1994.
