Ukraine took off military alert nearly all 46 of its SS-24 strategic missles, the most sophisticated in the former Soviet nuclear arsenal, Reuter reports from Kiev.

'The process of deactivisation is nearly complete,' a defence ministry spokesman said. Each missile holds 10 nuclear warheads, all of which were directed at the United States.
