A German magazine is being sued in Athens over a cover that raised hackles in Greece with a picture of a goddess raising her middle finger to Europeans.

The Focus denies defamation and insulting a national symbol. The cover showed the Venus de Milo, draped in a Greek flag, making the lewd gesture next to the headline "Cheats in the European family".
