The remains of a newborn baby have been found at a recycling plant in Ireland.

The discovery was made at the Greenstar Recycling facility in Bray, Co. Wicklow this morning.

Irish police, the Gardaí, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, The Irish Times reports. The scene has been cordoned off and preserved for forensic examinations. Technical experts from the Gardaí are in attendance.

A police spokesperson has told local media inquiries are ongoing.
