VOLGOGRAD (Reuter) - Thousands of Russians marked the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad yesterday. Veterans gathered on the Mamayev Kurgan hill, scene of the bitterest and bloodiest fighting in the 200- day battle, to commemorate more than a million Soviet dead.
