A Belgian prosecutor says the suspect in the triple slaying at a Belgian daycare center last week is also thought to have killed an elderly woman ten days ago.

Christian Du Four says police now believe the man they are holding for the daycare massacre in Dendermonde may also have stabbed to death a 73-year-old woman close to Dendermonde on Jan. 16.

Du Four says there are "very clear indications of links between the murders."

Last Friday, a knife-wielding man killed two babies and a caregiver at a daycare center in Dendermonde 30 kilometers (18 miles) west of Brussels. He also seriously wounded 12 others, including 10 young children.

He was arrested the same day. Authorities say the suspect is refusing to cooperate with the investigation.
