A British woman has been found dead in the bathroom of a luxury hotel in Switzerland where she was staying with her boyfriend.
The 22-year-old, named in media reports as Anna Florence Reed, was discovered lifeless at La Palma au Lac hotel in the Italian-speaking city of Locarno, early of Tuesday morning.
Swiss police confirmed a 29-year-old man from Zurich had been arrested.
The suspect who is understood to be Ms Reed’s German boyfriend, told police she died after a “sex game went wrong”, the Corriere del Ticino newspaper reported.
A post-mortem examination showed the woman died of suffocation.
Some hotel guests told media they heard arguing coming from the couple’s room the night before she was found dead.
The couple reportedly checked into the four-star hotel the night before Ms Reed’s body was found.
The Independent has contacted the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for comment.
