A British tourist has gone missing from a Swiss ski resort, police said today.

Myles Robinson, 23, was last seen at the Blue Monkey bar in Wengen at around 2am on Tuesday.

The Swiss army was called in to help with a helicopter search and teams used sniffer dogs and infra-red cameras as they scoured the area, a police spokeswoman said.

Mr Robinson, who was on holiday with his family, was wearing jeans, a white shirt, dark jumper and jacket when he was last seen.

According to his Facebook page, he went to Charterhouse school and Newcastle University.

Nuno Costa, a barman at the Blue Monkey, told The Sun: "This is very strange. I was with him until 1am as he drank with friends. None of them can understand how he disappeared.

"He was fine and seemed happy. It wasn't snowing and was a clear night."

Mr Robinson's father, Michael, told the London Evening Standard: "A body has not been found yet so we are trying to remain hopeful."

He went on: "I'm sure you can probably imagine the nightmare we are going through. Myles knows the place well as we have been coming for years.

"We have held meetings in the town, put posters up, and are just hoping he will be found."
