Caged trainer

MOSCOW (AP) - An elephant trainer has locked himself in a cage with his charge, Dasha, to protest at his sacking, the newspaper Izvestia reported. Faced with rising costs, the Durov Animal Theatre laid off dozens of employees and plans to send Dasha to Ukraine for breeding. Alexander Terekhov, has spent a week in the cage and refuses to leave until he and his colleagues are reinstated.
