BUCHAREST (AP) - The Romanian Supreme Court annulled a military court's sentencing of Nicu Ceausescu to 16 years in jail on charges of genocide, and ordered a new trial for the son of the late Communist dictator.
However, the court president said the defendant would remain in custody while legal officials decided on whether he should face new charges. Ceausescu, 42, was sentenced two years ago for his role in 89 deaths during the anti-Communist revolution.
