Chad's military government imposed an overnight curfew yesterday to halt ethnic clashes that have killed 103 people in less than a week, AP reports from Ndjamena.
Fifty-one people died in Ndjamena on Sunday when paramilitary police and soldiers clashed with demonstrators from the southern Ouaddai region. Three paramilitary troops and four policemen were among those killed. Police arrested 203 demonstrators. The Prime Minister, Fidel Moungar, said the protests 'seemed more an insurrection than a traditionally peaceful protest'.
