A Turkish doctor whose team performed the world's first triple limb transplant – two arms and a leg – said the leg had to be removed yesterday due to tissue incompatibility.

Dr Omer Ozkan said that Atilla Kavdir, 34, is in a stable condition after the removal of the leg just a day after it was attached.

Dr Ozkan said another patient who received a full face transplant from the same donor is in a stable condition. It was Turkey's first face transplant.
