Photographs have emerged of a British man arrested on suspicion of killing a suspected German paedophile with one punch after he found him filming his young daughter on his iPad.

Devinder Kainth, 40, is said to have attacked Sandro Rottman, 43, who was arrested over child pornography a few days before his death, at Spinnaker restaurant in Sotogrande, on the Costa del Sol in Spain.

Mr Kainth, a boxer and gym fanatic who goes by the name Victor, allegedly threw Mr Rottman's iPad to the ground on Sunday after seeing him filming his young daughter, who is believed to be under the age of eight.

He is being held at high security Botafuegos Prison, in the southern port of Algeciras, the Daily Mail reported, after reportedly knocking Mr Rottman to the ground with a single punch.

The owner of the Spinnaker restaurant told the Mail that after an afternoon of "friendly chatter", the British man told his family to leave.

"Devinder looked at Sandro's iPad and found pictures of his family which had been taken earlier that evening," he said. "Five seconds later he hit Sandro so hard he fell to the floor."

A staff member who watched CCTV footage of the incident added: "He dragged him along the floor like a dog."

Mr Rottman, who some reported as having a drink problem, died in hospital of his injuries.

According to police, says before the attack, Mr Rottman had been charged with possessing child pornography and was awaiting trial, but it is not known whether Mr Kainth, who has appeared before a magistrate and been remanded in custody on suspicion of homicide, was aware of the fact.

Mr Rottman, who was a web designer, recently posted a photo on Twitter of himself at the exclusive resort of El Octogono Beach Club in Sotogrande, holding a young child. He wrote: 'Just finished a day with the most beautiful girl in the Beach Club of Sotogrande. Hope one day I will have one my own.'

Mr Kainth's partner Gemma Hawkins, 31, the mother of his daughter and two sons, has been interviewed by police.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We stand ready to provide consular assistance if requested."
