A South Korean preacher who told his followers the world would end on 28 October last year was jailed yesterday for a year and fined pounds 16,900 for fraud, Reuter reports from Seoul. Lee Jang-lim, 46, leader of the Dami Missionary Church, was charged with pocketing 1bn won (pounds 840,000) from his followers, who gave up their assets in expectation of doomsday.
