A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after he apparently blew up a terraced house in Dortmund, killing a woman, and then proceeded to come out in his underwear saying “I told you so”.

A woman, named only as Karin E, died in the explosion, which is thought to have been caused by gas, according to reports.

The 48-year-old man who is thought to be responsible is being investigated on the counts of murder and attempted murder.

Although the suspect walked out of the house, he is now in a “life-threatening situation”, according to Bild.

Authorities were called to the property because of the man’s behaviour on Friday morning.

After he refused to open the door, the police said they would return to locksmith. A few hours later the house exploded, The Local reported.

Debris was scattered across the street and no pedestrians were hurt.

Police were often called to the property due to arguments and other disturbances, reports said.

“Sometimes he threatened our children with a wooden sword. At other times he sent murder threats out of the blue, or said that he would blow up the house,” a neighbour said.

“Police were often there because he was either running riot or causing unbearable noise.”
