LISBON (AFP) - General Loureiro dos Santos, commander of the Portuguese army, resigned for 'personal reasons', official sources said. He recently expressed opposition to a law on restructuring the armed forces, which would have meant reducing troops and transferring 1,000 officers to reserve status.
