Bruno Trentin, leader of the CGIL union, was barracked by militants in a 100,000-strong crowd who shouted 'sell-out' and 'traitor' at the man they accuse of betraying them by signing a deal abolishing automatic index-linked wage rises with the Prime Minister, Giuliano Amato, in July.
