EU membership moves closer for Croatia

Croatia moved a big step closer to joining the European Union yesterday after the EU executive recommended that its accession talks be completed and that an entry date is set for 2013. But the country still has to convince all of the 27 EU governments that it is ready to join the bloc, and particularly that its efforts to combat corruption have gone far enough.
