European Elections: Euromyth: Cucumbers
The EU has banned curved cucumbers. This is regrettably not so but true that the greengrocery trade prefers straight ones, that are easier to pack. EU quality standards reflect this prejudice and declare cucumbers with more than a certain curvature to be a Class II product. They should, in theory, be cheaper in the shops.
