MANILA (AP) - The Philippines Foreign Secretary, Roberto Romulo, said yesterday that two Filipinos jailed on religious charges in Saudi Arabia would not be executed, but instead would be deported.
On Tuesday, relatives of Oswaldo Magdangal and Renato Posedio said the two would be executed on Christmas Day for spreading Christianity in Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Secretary said the two had not been sentenced but would face two years' imprisonment. Instead, they asked to be deported, he added.
