At least 30 people have been killed in fire at shopping centre in Russia, it has been reported.

A fire broke out in the city of Kemerovo, in Siberia and local media is claiming the death toll is currently 37.

A total of 69 people have been reported missing, including 40 children, according to Russian state media.

Television pictures showed people jumping from the windows of the mall, which was engulfed in black smoke.

The fire started in the part of the shopping centre that contained an entertainment complex and a cinema.

In two of the halls that formed part of the cinema the ceiling apparently collapsed, according to the BBC.

The exact cause of the blaze is not yet known but authorities have launched an investigation.
