Ukraine's former prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, went on trial yesterday on charges of abuse of office, insisting that the case was a plot by the President to keep her out of politics.
She claimed President Viktor Yanukovych was seeking to bar her from parliamentary and presidential elections as a convicted felon.
