PARIS (Reuter) - France's independent broadcasting authority fined the private station TF1 30m francs ( pounds 3m) for failing to meet its quota of French-produced shows in 1991.
The government imposed the quotas when the first private television stations were authorised in the 1980s to promote French and European culture.
