Lima - The husband-and- wife battle for Peru's presidency became official when Susana Higuchi registered to run against her estranged husband, President Alberto Fujimori, 10 minutes before the deadline.
Ms Higuchi's protest against an electoral law barring relatives of the president from running for office led to her estrangement from Mr Fujimori and their rivalry in next year's election. She has said she will appeal to international forums if barred from running. Reuter
