TBILISI (Reuter) - The Georgian leader, Eduard Shevardnadze, called on Russia to withdraw its troops from Georgia's Black Sea provinces and threatened a total mobilisation.

Mr Shevardnadze told MPs that Russian troops should leave Abkhazia and Adzharia. 'Otherwise we will have to announce a total mobilisation and rise up with weapons in our hands to defend the country.'
