A man in Germany has been sentenced to nearly seven years in jail after he was found guilty of causing the death of another man before cutting off his victim’s genitals.
The 32-year-old man, who has not been named, was sentenced at a court in Limburg, Hesse. He will spend one year and five months in jail for the crime, while spending the remainder of his sentence in a detoxification clinic, The Local reports.
The man had appeared in court over the death of a 53-year-old drinking companion, who died in March this year. The victim has not been named.
The court heard that the two men had drunk several litres of wine together when the older man began attacking the defendant and grabbed him by the genitals.
The defendant then began punching the older man repeatedly in the face until he collapsed. The 53-year-old victim then choked on his own vomit and died, after which the defendant cut off the dead man’s genitals with a knife.
The defendant had originally been arrested on a murder charge, but this was reduced to a charge of bodily harm with fatal consequences.
“If he had still been alive, he would have bled to death,” the judge reportedly said during the sentencing.
