Berlin (AFP) - The grave of Walther Rathenau, Jewish foreign minister of the Weimar Republic who was assassinated by right-wing officers in 1922, was desecrated with swastikas and anti-Semitic slogans. In the 1930s the Nazis closed down a museum and institution named after Rathenau, removed memorials in his honour and forced his relatives to flee.
