PRAGUE (Reuter) - The Czechoslovak President, Vaclav Havel, said he would be willing to become president of an independent Czech republic if Czechoslovakia split up, provided the conditions were right. 'It would also depend on whether my eventual candidacy were backed by a sufficient majority of political parties with which I share certain values,' he said.
