BONN (Reuter) - Salman Rushdie said that German political leaders had promised him support in his attempts to have Iran lift a death sentence imposed in 1989 over his novel The Satanic Verses. He said he received 'a more unequivocal demonstration of support than I've ever received from my own country'.
