Bowing to international pressure, India ordered carpet manufacturers to stop employing children within three months or face legal action, AFP reports from New Delhi. The Textile Minister, G Venkat Swamy, said the government accorded highest priority to abolishing child labour and would not hesitate to act against violators of the law.
