The Pope has accepted the resignation of the Bishop of Limerick after an investigation into child sex abuse by Irish clergymen accused the bishop of ignoring reports of crimes in his diocese.
Bishop Donal Murray, 69, said: "I humbly apologise once again to all who were abused as little children." Last month's report from a government-appointed commission published damning findings about his time as an auxiliary bishop in Dublin from 1982 to 1996. It condemned his failure in one case as "inexcusable".
