A Danish man faces has been charged for comments made on Facebook threatening terrorist acts.

The Justice Department's indictment said he had posted videos produced by Isis on Facebook along with captions making threats in English and Arabic against infidels, lapsed Muslims and spies.

The 19-year-old has been charged with threatening to commit terror at the request of Justin Minister Søren Pind.

In a statement, Mr Pind said: "In recent years, we have seen a powerful increase in propaganda online that sympathizes with terrorists.

"We cannot accept that. It’s important that the authorities are vigilant and ensure that these types of threats are met with consequences."

The case against the Danish teenager has been described as 'unusual' by public prosecutor Jan Reckendorff, The Local reports.

Mr Reckendorff added: "It has only happened very rarely that the public prosecutor’s office has filed charges against a person for threatening terror.

"The public prosecutor believes that the 19-year-old’s serious threats on Facebook were made with the intention of seriously frightening the public."

The 19-year-old faces a maximum sentence of four years if found guilty.

The trial is expected to take place in the eastern Danish city of Aarhus on 18 May.
