Norway protested to Israel after Israeli soldiers accidentally killed a Norwegian serving with UN forces in south Lebanon, Reuter reports from Oslo.
Norway's Deputy Foreign Minister, Jan Egeland, said his Israeli counterpart, Yossi Beilin, telephoned to express 'deep regret' over the killing and to promise an investigation. Israeli military officials said Israeli soldiers on patrol mistook the peace-keepers for guerrillas and fired an artillery shell at them.
