Italy's Interior Minister, Nicola Mancino, who has been caught up in a scandal over secret service funds, tendered his resignation, but the Prime Minister, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, rejected it, Reuter reports from Rome.
Mr Mancino is one of several former interior ministers accused by jailed former spies of taking money from covert funds of SISDE, the scandal-tainted civilian secret services. The accused have all denied the charges.
