BRUSSELS (Reuter) - European Parliament Socialists said yesterday they had expelled Italian Social Democrats from their group for collaborating with neo-Fascists.
A statement said party leaders attending a Socialist group meeting in Corfu before the EU summit had decided to exclude the tiny Italian Social Democratic Party from their two-day meeting. It accused the Italians of working with the neo-Fascist National Alliance in Sicily during recent elections.
'This is the first time since the Second World War that a supposed Socialist Party has collaborated with a neo-Fascist party,' the statement said.
