Harare - Lawyers defending a British doctor, Richard McGown, in a racially explosive trial struggled to keep him out of Zimbabwe's tough jails after he was sentenced to six months' prison with labour over the deaths of two children.
A crowd of around 50 university students singing revolutionary songs chased the Scottish-born anaesthetist through Harare's streets after he was spotted leaving a back entrance of the High Court when lawyers won a one-day reprieve. AFP
